Bonjour à tous et à toutes,

Cela fait maintenant plus d'un an que je suis de retour en France.
Côté musical, le travail continue avec mon ami Nox sur le projet électro Vertigo Observer (http://www.myspace.com/vertigoobserver) et le projet avance doucement mais surement, avec pour but de sortir un jour un album.

J'ai signé avec un label américain, Deka Records, qui va assurer la promotion de mes morceaux aux USA et sur d'autres vecteurs de communication musicale, tels que iTunes, Amazon , Spotify, eMusic…

Dans mon dernier post daté du 26/07/2010 je mentionnais le travail que j'avais fait en Australie de remixer et retravailler (avec le grand producteur Australien Cameron McKenzie) les chansons du CD « Tim Chesley » que j'ai enregistré en 2006 à Paris.

Ces morceaux remodelés (auxquels j'ai rajouté Maybe One Day que j'avais enregistré en Australie) ont ensuite fait l'objet d'un remastering, réalisé en 2011 par Raphaël Jonin, qui a des oreilles « en or massif » et qui a réalisé un super travail.

De fait, l'album qui sort aujourd'hui sur iTunes (et bientôt sur Amazon, etc) est de loin ce que j'ai fait de mieux en terme d'écriture, de production et de qualité sonore !!!

Bonjour à tous et à toutes,

voilà ça y est après une belle aventure de 4 ans en Australie, me voici de nouveau en France.

C'est triste mais hélas je ne pourrais plus continuer l'aventure avec mes amis les Lavatones. (www.myspace.com/thelavatones)

Par contre je compte bien continuer du coup le projet Vertigo Observer qui a été enclenché ces dernières années. (http://www.myspace.com/vertigoobserver)

Du côté Tim Chesley, eh bien c'est plutôt calme, mais au moins j'ai eu la chance de pouvoir travailler une dernière fois avec Cameron McKenzie juste avant de quitter l'Australie en avril 2010.

C'est avec Cameron qui produit des pointures en Australie du genre Mark Seymour que j'ai enregistré le CD "Dreaming is the Way" en 2008, + d'autres petites choses.

L'idée était ici de retravailler sur les 12 chansons ayant fait l'objet du CD "Tim Chesley" enregistré à Paris en 2006, et ma foi je suis + que content du travail de mon ami producteur australien.

Certains morceaux n'ont globalement fait l'objet que d'un nouveau mix, mais d'autres morceaux ont fortement été modifiés par rapport au CD de 2006, tel que "Sans Histoire" par exemple

Je vous invite à en découvrir un extrait.

N'hésitez pas à me faire part de vos impressions!

Enfin, je fais un petit coucou à Nick Ross, un ami anglais qui a lancé son site web qui s'appelle MUDBOARD (http://www.mudboard.com/), il s'agit ici d'un site original où chacun peut venir partager ses dernières créations artistiques (audio, vidéos, textes, etc etc), les partager, créer des liens entre des créations et leurs auteurs, créer des groupes, créer son studio, etc.

Hi everyone,
 
as we say in French, "toutes bonnes choses ont une fin",
 
and with Ai my beautiful spouse it is now almost certain that we will be leaving Australia in May to go back to live in France normally.
 
As there is no question I am going to leave this country without saying farewell to my beautiful friends here, I thought the best way to say goodbye would be one last farewell gig.
 
Please join me on Tuesday the 13th of April from 7pm onwards at the Niche Cafe, 73 Smith Street in Fitzroy, tel 9416 3439
 
It will be an exciting night where I should play a little set (my first solo gig in more than one year) from 7.30pm onwards.
 
Then around 9pm I will be joined on stage by The Lava Tones, the band I formed recently with Mark Fitzo (GB) on the guitar, vocals & incredible songwriting and Dave "The Professor" Lindsay (AU) on Sax.
 
There should be other surprises during that night: especially some of the latest musical works from Tim Chesley & The Lava Tones should be available on some CDs available that night

Hi,

Since a few months I've been part of an exciting new musical project that has been taking form, and now has a name: THE LAVA TONES!

The Lava Tones are comprised of guitarist vocalist songwriter Fitzo (from London), Dave Lindsay "The Teacher" (from Melbourne) on the saxophone/harmonica and I (from Paris/USA...) play the bass + sometimes xylophone/melodica + anything I could put into my hands...
It's a project of 3 friends, who like to get together in order to have a good time around a few good beers and glasses of wine, and yeah why not, play some music together...
The result, largely crafted around Fitzo's great skills at songwriting, is a curious & magical blend of pop, jazz, alt country, bossanova, you name it...

Hi guys,

I have been very busy these last weeks, and unfortunately I haven't got a lot of time for the music, which is simply very painful to me...
However, I was lucky enough to book one recording day with Cameron McKenzie who produced my "Dreaming is the Way" EP in 2008.
Cam is a great muso, guitar player, engineer & producer, actually on tour in Canada with Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors)
That day Graham Thwaites came to play some drums on a revisited & adventurous version of "Maybe one Day", the highlight already of the 2008 session with Cam.
The other track we worked on is "Dusk", an instrumental piano based song, inspired by a recent trip to Marysville in Victoria.
Marysville is one of the towns totally wiped out by the bush fires which ocurred in Victoria lately, especially during "black saturday" last February.
We recently visited Marysville after the bush fires, arriving at dusk in this desolated little town lost in the middle of the forest, and it was such a sad & unreal vision that I decided to express my feelings in this instrumental track called "Dusk".

HELLO HELLO,

The start of this year has been a little bit painful for me, I broke my leg at indoor soccer, and had to walk with crutches during two months.

And I've put aside any idea of gigs or anything.

But meanwhile I've been listening to some old stuff, some old recordings, and I thought I'd put on the website a new track "Mesdemoiselles", which is actually a new old song, since it was recorded back in 2004 in Taverny (Paris, France) where I worked with Alain Parmentier on a few songs, such as "Alcool" too.

I hope you enjoy it, it has an interesting violin part played by a tzigane player if I recall, and great lyrics by my French Cousin Cyrille Latour (and my other cousin Matthieu Latour was playing the drums).

It's an old song back out there, but it's always nice to have something new to put on the website
The songs can be found under the MUSIC page of the website under the “morceaux inedits” in 2003-2004.

Hi folks,

Today is history: I have been working since 2004 on a relaxed side-project called VERTIGO OBSERVER with my friend and great musicien Noxize, aka Flesh is the Fever, from Paris.

He is more a techno, drum & bass oriented, I am more a pop/prog rock freak, but we have learned to work together and enjoyed confronting our different musical universes.

The result is VERTIGO OBSERVER, which is a colourful patchwork of these influences, melodic, beat & hypnotic catchy experimentations which we hope you will appreciate.

The reason why it took us 4 years to write 4 songs (that's what I call productive...) is partly due to the distance, Noxize being in Paris while I am here in Melbourne, Australia.

That's why I consider these 4 tracks real little gems considering these difficult conditions.

j’ai le plaisir de pouvoir annoncer que mon premier CD « Made in Melbourne » (« Dreaming is the Way ») est prêt, et que je vais faire en Octobre et en Novembre une série de concerts sur Melbourne où à cette occasion vous pourrez alors vous procurer le CD.

Bonjour tout le monde,

Ca fait un certain bail que je n'ai pas donné de nouvelles.

J'ai préféré ne pas rechercher de concerts ces derniers temps, pour la bonne raison que j'ai décidé de concentrer mes efforts dans l'enregistrement d'un nouveau CD Démo 5 titres (en juin), qui reflètera le son que j'ai en concert ici en Australie, soit guitare acoustique (et effets) + voix.
Je serais aidé dans cette tâche par un ingénieur du son grand musician avec un son très sympa et des bonnes références, Cameron McKenzie (Horsehead, Mark Seymour Hunters & Collectors, The Androids, Belle Roscoe).

Une autre nouvelle est que je suis désormais membre de BMI, qui est une P.R.O. basee aux Etats-Unis (Performance Rights Organization).

Enfin, j'ai retrouvé lors de travaux d'archivage récents quelques vieilles versions inédites de morceaux que j'ai trouvées assez cool, des premières prises enregistrées à l'époque dans la maison de Chindrieux en 2003. Ici je tiens à remercier Alain Parmentier pour le mixage de "Croire au Bonheur - 2003" et Thibaud Guichardan pour le recent mixage de "Newport - 2003".
